Die casting is a permanent mold casting procedure that involves
pouring molten metal into a mold and then removing it when it
has solidified. Die casting is ideal for large-scale component
manufacture at a complex metal part.
Die casting requires a mould tool with one or more chambers.
Due to their lower melting temperatures, softer alloys like
aluminium and zinc alloys can be processed successfully.

DS focuses on the two types of die casting: hot chamber casting and cold chamber casting. Both types can manufacture complicated, close-tolerance products with strong mechanical qualities.
Hot chamber die casting uses a machine to melt the metal. Because it's a self-contained system, it's faster than the alternative and offers short cycle durations, but it's only suited for zinc, tin, and lead alloys.
Using a separate furnace, cold chamber die casting heats the metal. Ladling molten metal to the die casting machine delays productivity. With a separate furnace, metals with high melting points can be cast. This process can cast aluminum.
Custom tooling is used to inject molten metal into dies. Die halves consist of a stationary cover die and a moveable ejector die. The die opens and closes along its dividing line. Closed die halves form an internal cavity that is filled with molten metal to form the casting. The cavity insert and core insert are put into the cover die and ejector die, respectively. The cover die lets molten metal flow from the injection system into the part cavity. The ejector die includes a support plate and an ejector box positioned on the platen. The clamping bar pushes the ejector plate into the ejector box when the clamping unit splits the die halves, ejecting the moulded item from the core insert. Multiple-cavity dies are sometimes used; the two sides form multiple identical part cavities.
Several different metal materials are available to choose from when manufacturing using die casting. The material you choose will depend on your intended use for the product. For instance, cast aluminum parts are common in aerospace or automotive applications where corrosion resistance and weight reduction are essential factors. You can learn more about the main types of die casting materials we offer in the sections below. If you have a specific material request, just let us know!
The most popular alloys for die cast items are aluminium alloys. Aluminum die casting suppliers benefit from the total recyclability of the material and its ease of use. Aluminum die casting may require cold chamber casting due to its high melting point. Cast aluminium parts have exceptional strength-to-weight ratios, dimensional stability, and finishing possibilities. Cast aluminium alloys are also:
Temperature-resistant
Anti-corrosion
Corrosion Resistance
Highly conductive
Commonly used Aluminum alloys:
A380, A360, A390. A413, ADC-12, ADC-1
Zinc is the easiest to cast material among the die casting metals and is typically used in hot chamber processes. Zinc has a low melting point and excellent casting fluidity. Its strength and stiffness allow smaller walls, intricate details, and tight tolerances. Die casting zinc alloys have the fastest production rates because to their low melting point. Zinc's mechanical and physical properties, including:
High density
High ductility
Good impact strength
Excellent surface smoothness allowing for painting or plating
Easiest to cast
Can form very thin walls
Long die life due to low melting point
Commonly used Zinc alloys:
Zamak-2, Zamak-3, Zamak-5, Zamak-7, ZA-8, ZA-12, ZA-27
● Aluminum is ideal for strong, lighweight yet complex geometries. It can also be highly polished. Our alloys include ADC12, A380, ADC10 and A413.
● Zinc is the least expensive but is good for plating. Available alloys are Zinc #3 and #5.
Production rate is moderate to high.
Surface finish and accuracy are excellent.
Complex geometries can be achieved.
Especially suited for larger metal parts.
Castable metals include aluminum, zinc and magnesium.
Die casting is an excellent choice for high-volume metal items that are too large for comparable high-volume procedures, such as metal injection moulding (MIM). We offer high quality parts at competitive pricing to value customers in the following industries:
● Automotive Components
● Connector Housings
● Pumps and Plumbing Fixtures
● Outdoor lighting
● Gears
